Who it is for

Teams in Germany that already feel the pressure of privacy questions inside employment processes — and want a shared desk method before every issue becomes an emergency counsel call.

Modules

Module 1 — Employment data maps

Sketch where employee data actually lives across ATS, payroll, managers’ inboxes, and badge systems. Identify owners and fragile handoffs.

Module 2 — Access request intake

Build a calm path from first employee email to scoped response, including when medical or sensitive notes must be separated.

Module 3 — Monitoring with proportion

Compare cameras, software telemetry, and less invasive controls. Prepare a works council conversation that is concrete, not abstract.

Module 4 — Onboarding and retention

Decide what hiring packets to keep, what to shed, and how to document retention so audits do not surprise you.

Module 5 — Vendor and processor questions

Practice a short questionnaire for tools that touch employee data, and decide when to escalate to counsel.

Learning outcomes

Run a first-line consultation

Facilitate a 45-minute internal meeting that surfaces purpose, risks, and next owners without pretending to issue a legal ruling.

Leave with annotated artifacts

Customize intake forms, monitoring checklists, and retention notes for your filing reality in Germany.

Know the edges

Recognize scenarios that require external counsel, DPO involvement, or authority guidance — and say so clearly inside the organization.

Instructor

Dr. Helene Marquardt facilitates employment privacy workshops across northern Germany. Her background blends people operations advisory with practical GDPR coaching for mid-size employers. She focuses on making mixed HR and works council rooms productive rather than adversarial.

FAQ

Is this a substitute for legal advice?

No. The course strengthens internal consultation skills. It does not provide formal legal opinions or representation before German authorities.

Can works council members join with HR?

Yes — mixed rooms are encouraged. Facilitation assumes different mandates in the same conversation.

What is a real limitation of this program?

We do not deep-dive into sector-specific medical confidentiality rules for clinics or detailed cross-border transfer mechanisms for global HRIS platforms. Those topics need specialist counsel beyond this desk course.

How do refunds work?

See our Refund Policy for eligibility, timeframes, and non-refundable items.

Module 3’s monitoring comparison forced our ops lead to scrap a blanket screen-capture idea. The rehearsal with works council language was awkward in the room — in a useful way.

Short take: templates from Module 2 are now on our HR shared drive. Still wish Module 5 had a longer vendor red-flag list.
